VALUES

The following core values define the identity of our church, and must be held by members and prospective members of the church:

THE BIBLE: The Bible shall be our sole authority for Faith and every practice thereof.

We believe that the BIBLE is the Word of God. It was written in its totality by Men inspired by God:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16)

For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1: 21).

Given the fact that the Bible was inspired by God, original documents are exempt from error (John 17:17). It is authoritative in all matters of Faith and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17). It is a unique book in the World. The Bible relates the work of the important person of the Universe: Jesus-Christ from Nazareth.

We believe that the Bible is the supreme authority of each Christian and many verses demonstrate how important it is to read and obey to the teaching of the Word of God:

A-)  For our Salvation:

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you” (James 1:21).

B-)   For new life

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23).

C-)  To lighten us

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalms 119:105).

D -)  For true joy

And after she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. The Teacher is here, she said, and is asking for you” (Luke 11:28)

JESUS-CHRIST:

He is the only Son of God (John 3 :16) who came down to revel us the Father (John 1 :1-14); He also came to show us how to live (1 John 2 :6)

His title: John 1:29

His Divinity: John 10:30 “I and the Father are one”

He is God-man who lived among us with a mother, sisters and brothers (Mark 3:31-32; 6:3)

GOD

He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

  1. The trinity: Three in one
  1. Genesis 1:26 : “ ... Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness”
  2. Matt. 3 : 16-17

The non transferable Attributes that belong to God:

  1. He is eternal (I Tim. 1 :17)
  2. He is immutable (James 1 :17)
  3. He is omnipresent (Psalms 139 :7-10)
  4. He is omniscient (I Jean 3 :20)
  5. He is omnipotent (Matt. 19 :25-26)
  6. He is perfect (Psalms 18 : 30)
  7. He has no end (Psalms 147 :5)
  8. He cannot be understood on 100%

THE AUTHORITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: We shall be subjected to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

LOVE: Love shall be our watch word, for Christianity without love is nothing but hypocrisy.

SALVATION: Sola fide: Salvation is only through Faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2: 8-9).

We are saved when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord (1 John 5: 11-13)

THE CHURCH

The Church is made of a universal and local church:

-         The universal Church: is made of all the Christians churches of the World.

-         The local church: is made of a group of Christians who gather together to worship God and work together.

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY: We value a clear, personal, and biblical, confession of Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, demonstrated in and out of the Church.

MUTUAL RESPECT: We love and respect each individual as made in the image of God, regardless of their social, educational, economic or political status or leanings.

DEMOCRATIC/CONGREGATIONAL GOVERNMENT: As Baptists we cherish a democratic congregational government under the leadership of the Holy Spirit with preference to consensus rather than majority vote in decision making.

DISCIPLESHIP MAKING: We emphasize discipleship in all its forms as a means of maturing people in Christ and accomplishing our God-given vision.

EVANGELISM: We value evangelism as a major means of bringing people to salvation by grace and accomplishing the Great Commission.

GIFT ORIENTED MINISTRIES: We value corporate and personal ministries empowered and motivated by the spiritual giftedness of our members.

UNITY IN DIVERSITY: We appreciate the cultural, economical, social and intellectual diversity of our church as a gift of God. We are determined to maintain this unity in diversity.

CHURCH ORDONNANCES

Our Church ordinances are different from « sacraments» that we find in the Roman Catholic Church. In our Church we have two (2) ordinances: The Baptism and Lord’s Super.

BAPTISM

THE CBC CHURCH COVENANT

Since we have received the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and have been baptized, we now, before God and His Church, agree:

  1. To walk together in Christian Love, 1Corinthians 1:10; 1John 3:14, 4:11.
  2. To worship and pray together, Matthew 18:20
  3. To be willing to help in all church work, Ephesians 2:10; James 2:22
  4. To give cheerfully our tithes and offerings for the work of the church and the spread of the Gospel, Acts 20:38.
  5. To help the old, the sick, and the troubled in our church and in the town, Matthew 25:35; Hebrew 11:25;
  6. To have family prayers, Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

  11. To keep ourselves free from the power of strong drink, Ephesians 5:18; Leviticus 1:9
  12. To speak only that which is true and helpful, Psalms 5:1-2, 13; Ephesians 4:29..
  13. To be slow in anger and quick to forgive, Colossians 3:8; Ephesians 4:26
  14. To be ready to serve in another church of the same faith when leaving this one, 1Corinthians 6:17.

OH GOD, HELP US BY YOUR POWER TO KEEP THESE PROMISES, AMEN

NOTE: A covenant is a promise taken before God. This Covenant should be said in unison by the congregation in connection with the Lord’s Supper service without quoting the Scriptures. All new Christians should be familiar with it before being baptized or received as members of the Church.
